Fire, flood and storm alerts for Coopernook

When something happens in Coopernook, a notice raised on this hub shows above every page here, and on every site linked under it, until it is cleared.

Warnings from the NSW Rural Fire Service and the Bureau of Meteorology can be relayed automatically once someone local takes the hub on.

What has happened here

On 20 March 2021 the Lansdowne River broke its bank and flooded low-lying parts of Coopernook, cutting the township off completely. The Coopernook Hotel flooded above the bar, and the houses on Wharf Road were devastated. An evacuation centre was set up in the United Church of Coopernook. If you live near the river, know your way out before the water comes.

The hub is not an emergency service. Always follow the official warnings first.

Questions people ask

Is this an official warning?

Only when it comes from a recognised emergency service. A notice from anyone else is a word from locals, and is labelled that way.

Who can raise an alert on this hub?

The hub, and any group linked under it. Each notice says who raised it.

Do I need an app?

No. A notice is at the top of every page of this site. Keep the state warnings app as well for the whole picture.

What if I need rescue, not word?

Ring 000 if a life is at risk, or the SES on 132 500 for storm and flood help. The hub is for word, not rescue.
